*More About Madeline*
I know that therapy can be a daunting experience, but through personal therapy and my work as a therapist, I have seen the power and change it can bring. Knowing this, my role as a therapist is my greatest passion and highest honor. I am committed to every session being one that is supportive and safe to explore new, uncomfortable, or scary things, and bring about a change you can feel. I show up with enthusiasm and authenticity, ready to start this journey with you.
*What to Expect From Our Work Together*
I hope to be someone you can connect to, learn from and feel safe with. I believe change can happen when met with understanding, compassion, creativity, and a fair dose of humor. I am ready to meet you where you are at, while still challenging you to explore new perspectives and ways of healing.
I help you gain insight into your experience and engage you in expressing your emotions, to ultimately help you learn, cope, and find a sense of balance and healing in your life. Art therapy is a form of therapy I offer in helping with expression and coping. All you need is a paper and pencil, no art skills or special creativity required.
*What you Need to Know About Me*
I was a freshman in high school was when I first learned about Art Therapy, and immediately fell in love with it. Since then, it was my dream to live in Chicago to be an Art Therapist. I was focused and dedicated in making that dream come true, and now I LOVE my job, and consider myself extremely lucky. I have lived in a couple other places in the midwest, but Chicago is my favorite city (but how about another month or two of summer?). I love art and crafting, with my favorite being acrylic paints. If you have a favorite art medium or craft- let me know! I love trying new things.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor; I have a BA in Psychology and Studio Art, and received my Masters in Counseling and Art Therapy at Adler University in Chicago. I love using Art Therapy as a facilitator in the therapy process, and offer it as an option when appropriate and applicable. My fascination for my career is endless, and received trainings in trauma treatment, eating disorders and body image, and ethics and cultural competence.
