Claire Callahan, LPC

(She/Her)

Therapy for adults to better understand their emotions, break patterns of people-pleasing and self-doubt, build healthier boundaries, and feel more grounded in who they are.

Sometimes it can feel like your emotions are running the show. I work with adults and couples navigating a wide range of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, ADHD, major life transitions, family and relationship conflict, substance use concerns, and questions around identity.

As a Certified Trauma Professional, my work is also informed by “parts work,” which can help us understand the different protective parts of ourselves that developed in response to difficult experiences.

Specialties:

  • Emotional and nervous system regulation
  • Trauma and stress responses
  • People-pleasing and boundaries
  • Shame, guilt, and self-worth
  • Identity and personal agency
  • Couples work

What To Expect

My style is warm, affirming, patient, and gently challenging. I want therapy to feel like a place where you know you will be understood, seen, heard, and supported—but also a place where meaningful growth can happen.

I tend to be flexible and open-ended, because I believe therapy should meet you where you are. At the same time, structure can sometimes provide a sense of safety, especially when you’re experimenting with new ways of thinking, feeling, or responding.

Over time, our work may help you feel more capable of managing stress and difficult emotions, improve your self-esteem and sense of personal agency, and become more comfortable setting boundaries and navigating conflict in your relationships.

We Might Be a Fit If You Feel…

  • “I’m overwhelmed and either going to blow up, run away, or shut down,” “
  • My emotions keep creating conflict in my relationships,”
  • “I don’t know who I am outside of what I do for other people,”  “
  • “Shame and guilt keep me feeling stuck.”

A Little About Me

Becoming a therapist was a career change for me after many years in corporate America. I ultimately realized that this work felt much more aligned with my values and my desire to help people navigate emotional and mental health challenges—and I feel incredibly fortunate to have made the change.

One practice I strongly recommend is developing some form of meditation or nervous system reset. Learning how to pause, regulate, and reconnect with your body can be surprisingly powerful. I want clients to recognize that many of the tools they need to heal and grow are already within them; therapy can help make those tools easier to access and trust.

Outside of therapy, I’m a devoted mom to a teenager and two beloved rescue dogs. I love spending time with family and friends, trying recipes from the NYT Cooking app, traveling, and karaoke.
