Ashton White, LCPC, EMDR Trained, Intern Site Supervisor

(She/Her)

Therapy for high-functioning young adults who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck beneath the surface.

If you’re the person who “has it together” on paper—yet inside you’re overthinking, scanning for what could go wrong, or quietly carrying the weight of your past—I want you to know you’re not alone. I most often work with adults who are high functioning and over-functioning, while internally struggling with anxiety, life transitions, and the lasting impact of relational or developmental trauma.

Specialties:

  • Anxiety (overthinking, hypervigilance)
  • Relational/developmental trauma and identity-based experiences
  • Boundaries, self-trust, and shame/negative self-talk
  • Life transitions and decision points
  • Reconnecting with your body and sense of self

What to Expect

My approach is warm, collaborative, and gently challenging. Clients often share that sessions feel validating and insightful—like working with someone who truly understands them while also helping them notice patterns that keep them stuck. I balance deep empathy with accountability, supporting growth around things like people-pleasing, fear of conflict, or trusting yourself.

Sessions are conversational and relationship-focused, centered on what feels most present while keeping your longer-term goals in mind. I integrate trauma-informed work (including EMDR) and grounding practices so sessions feel both meaningful and regulating. The first session focuses on getting to know you, your story, and your goals—moving at your pace. When helpful, I may offer simple between-session practices like reflection prompts or grounding tools to support change between sessions.

We Might Be a Fit If You Feel…

  • “On paper my life looks fine, but I feel anxious and overwhelmed all the time.”
  • “I know my past is affecting me, but I don’t know how to actually move forward from it.”
  • “I’m exhausted from overthinking everything and feeling like I have to hold it all together.”

A Little About Me

I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Nationally Certified Counselor, and a trained EMDR practitioner, with a Master’s degree from Northwestern University.

Atlanta-raised, Southern-food enthusiast, hot yoga regular, horror-movie watcher, and proud dog person (plus a soft spot for sour candy). I’m married to a surgical resident, so I’m big on celebrating small wins—especially in busy seasons.

I may not be the best fit when OCD is the primary concern (and ERP is needed), for active substance dependence, or when a higher level of care is indicated.

If you’re ready to slow down, get out of your head, and heal in a space that feels safe and real, I’d love to support you.
