Taylor Melton, LCPC

(She/Her)

Therapy for Black women and marginalized individuals seeking confidence, clarity, and healing.

I work primarily with Black women, BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals, and people living with chronic illness or chronic pain. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling misunderstood, disconnected from themselves, or worn down by people-pleasing and self-doubt. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered to build a life that feels more grounded and authentic.

Specialties:

  • Self-confidence and self-worth
  • People-pleasing patterns
  • Boundaries and assertiveness
  • Self-trust and trust in others

What to Expect

Sessions typically begin with a brief check-in about your mood and what’s been coming up since we last met. You’ll decide what you’d like to focus on, and I’ll help connect what shows up in session back to your larger goals so our work stays purposeful. In the first session, I’ll take time to get to know you as a whole person—your background, relationships, medical and mental health history, interests, and what brings you to therapy now. When helpful and with your consent, I may offer between-session practices such as grounding skills, journaling, or relaxation techniques to support emotional regulation and reflection.

We Might Be a Fit If You Feel…

  • Grief or loss after being diagnosed with a chronic illness and want support with acceptance
  • Uncertain about yourself, your decisions, or your sense of identity
  • Alone, misunderstood, or exhausted from putting everyone else first

A Little About Me

I believe in progress over perfection, and that you have to put your own oxygen mask on before helping others. My work is grounded in relational and psychodynamic therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with a trauma-informed lens. I’m especially skilled at building strong rapport, using humor, and remembering the small details that help clients feel deeply understood—not “crazy” or alone.

I became a therapist because I’ve always been drawn to holding space for people during their darkest moments—and I believe that being witnessed with care is healing. Outside of therapy, I’m a proud single cat lady who loves true crime and documentaries. If you’re looking for a space where your identity, experiences, and emotions are honored, I’d be glad to support you.

I may not be the best fit for concerns related to substance use, ADHD, or for clients outside the populations I primarily serve.

If you’re ready to feel more seen, supported, and confident in who you are, this can be a space to begin that work.
