Susan O'Mahoney, LCSW

(She/Her)

Therapy for teens and adults seeking support with anxiety, neurodivergence, and life’s challenges.

I work with teenagers through adults, particularly individuals with neurodivergent identities and those navigating anxiety, relationship dynamics, and grief. Many of the clients I see want practical support for managing anxious thoughts while also having space to be fully themselves, without judgment.

Specialties:

  • ADHD and neurodivergence
  • Anxiety, panic and stress
  • Academic and school challenges
  • Social and peer relationships

What To Expect

My style is fun, playful, and compassionate, while still being thoughtful and grounded. I want therapy to feel like a non-judgmental, safe space—and when it fits, a place where humor and lightness can exist alongside hard conversations. I’m open-ended in my approach, but I’ll bring structure when specific concerns or recurring themes show up. I’m also very transparent: I’ll often name when I’m about to challenge a thought or comment so we can explore it together with curiosity and perspective-taking.

Sessions typically begin with a check-in from the previous week, followed by addressing whatever concerns or feelings feel most present. Depending on what you’re looking for, sessions may include active listening, feedback, or more solution-focused dialogue. The first session is about getting to know each other—understanding what brought you in and setting goals that feel meaningful and client-centered.

We Might Be a Fit If You Feel…

  • Caught in anxious or negative thought patterns and want help learning how to shift them

  • Overwhelmed by relationships, loss, or changes in your life

  • Like you need a supportive space that feels safe, human, and even a little light when appropriate

A Little About Me

My work draws from cognitive therapy, growth mindset, and a strengths-based perspective—focusing on resilience, skill-building, and learning how to “catch it, challenge it, and change it” when unhelpful thoughts take over. I believe healing happens when we give ourselves grace while also taking responsibility for our thoughts and emotions. I bring a broad perspective from my background as a school social worker, where I worked with anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, and a wide range of mental health needs—especially within the neurodivergent community.

I’ve always known I wanted a career centered on serving others, and that clarity has guided me since childhood. Outside of work, I’ve been married to my husband for 23 years and am the proud parent of three grown kids. I share my home with two sphynx cats—Botox and Leonard Skinard—and love traveling as a family. Some of our favorite trips have been to Morocco, Vietnam, and Costa Rica. If you’re looking for a supportive, engaging space to work with anxiety, neurodivergence, and personal growth, I’d be glad to support you.

*I do not currently offer couples or family therapy.

If you’re ready to better understand your ADHD, feel more confident in yourself, and build tools that actually work in your daily life, I’d be glad to work with you.
