Kheri Dunkins, LCPC, EMDR Trained, Clinical Director

(She/Her)

Therapy for high-achieving women ready to reconnect with themselves and move differently.

I work primarily with career-driven, women-identifying clients in their late 20s to mid-30s, many of whom come from BIPOC communities and are navigating long-term relationships, dating fatigue, or a growing sense that they’ve lost themselves along the way. Many of the people I work with are used to holding it all together, but internally feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward in a way that actually feels aligned.

Specialties:

  • Challenges with assertiveness and boundary-setting
  • Patterns of chronic self-blame and shame
  • Trauma bonding and complex relationship dynamics
  • Difficulty trusting oneself and following through
  • Work-life imbalance and burnout

What to Expect

Sessions are open-ended and responsive to what feels most important in the moment. We may revisit themes from previous sessions, but you help guide where we focus each time. I’ll step in with intention to help you slow down, reflect, challenge patterns, or shift perspective when needed.

The first session is focused on getting a full picture of who you are beyond your current concerns. We’ll explore different areas of your life to better understand what’s bringing you in and what you want to shift, while also giving you space to ask questions and determine if this feels like the right fit.

Between sessions, I may offer practices or reflections depending on what we’re working on, but the core expectation is ongoing awareness and application of what comes up in our work together.

We Might Be a Fit If You Feel…

  • Uncomfortable saying no to people you care about
  • Feel like you have to earn rest or enjoyment
  • You know what you need to do, but you can’t seem to follow through

A Little About Me

I believe change is something that develops over time through consistency, practice, and patience. My work draws from DBT and CBT to support emotional and relational skill-building, along with EMDR and attachment-focused work when relevant. I also approach therapy through a social justice-informed lens, recognizing how identity, relationships, and larger systems shape our experiences.

I have experience working with BIPOC adults, high-achieving professionals, clients navigating relational trauma and trauma bonding, identity shifts, and individuals unpacking early family or faith-based messaging. I also work with LGBTQIA+ and queer-allied clients.

I became a therapist out of both curiosity and lived experience. I’ve always been drawn to understanding people beyond the surface, and my own time in therapy reinforced how valuable it can be to have a space for reflection, validation, and growth, especially in communities where mental health support isn’t always normalized outside of crisis.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy weekly trivia with friends, playing console video games, and celebrating spooky season year-round. A book I often recommend is Set Boundaries, Find Peace by Nedra Glover Tawwab.
